Italian segretaire chest of drawers desk model 804 designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini in 1962, emphasises Gianfranco Frattini’s great design skills and the skilful cabinet-making skills of Bernini’s craftsmen. 804 is a transforming object, which conceals a surprise inside; by means of a simultaneous movement between the extraction of the top and the sliding opening of a shutter, 804 is transformed from a piece of furniture into a practical writing desk. The change of use/image takes place by means of a sophisticated mechanism, a perfectly calibrated pullout movement. Inside, the leather-covered top, delightful drawers of various sizes and an object holder are revealed. Beneath the desk top is a central front body composed of two rows of five capacious drawers. The entire structure is made of fine walnut wood and rests on an anodised aluminium base and wooden feet. Clear glass top. The back is finished with open elements ideal for positioning also in the centre of the room. Manufacturer’s adhesive label and print with manufacturer’s logo and year of manufacture behind the first drawer top left.
